    Between lunch and dinner, they imbibe the intricacies of terrain understanding, map reading, undergoing grueling weapon and combat training.


    Primitive Tools – Global Power Aspirations

    For a country that has dreams of being a super power, the weapons and gear assigned to a soldier compared to other powerful countries are nothing if not classified as primitive.


    Compare this to the latest arms and sophisticated high quality protection gears that Chinese or American soldiers would otherwise have at their disposal ensures their soldiers have greater chances of returning back to their families in safety amid gravest of dangers.


    Alas! In India, this is not a priority.

    A sipahee, Jawan or a soldier is the backbone of India’s projected military might.


    Where the armed force is handicapped for lack of funds, outdated arms and ammunition, previous generation gears, a Jawan of Indian army dares punch much above his weight.


    Amidst overwhelming political and administrative challenges, daunting operational constraints, a Jawan of an Indian armed force lives under grave peril, sacrificing his family’s well being and property, consistently baiting death.


    His uniform bears no motif; he melts into his unit- faceless, unrecognized even humiliated while living and serving


    Rajnath Singh had publicly slapped one of a trained soldier assigned to protect him.

    Similarly, videos and stories abound of political leaders publicly tasking the soldiers to wipe their shoes, hold umbrella, clean chair etc.)


    Their world is restricted to the cantonment, where they are bound by rigorous military systems.


    They have to measure up to exacting rules and abide by stringent regulations, bound by archaic traditions and ordered around by martinets as a routine
